The 21st Expansion Pack
Design wise, the expansion pack had three main pillars: reating the world of Ondarion, a melting pot of three cultures. Second, definingRoyalty gameplay for the first time in The Sims series, and lastly, creating family dynasties that have intrinsic values to be followed… or not!.
I worked on the third pillar, in which I was responsible for Swordsmanship, Swordsmanship Tournaments and Scandals.
Swordsmanship
Skill centered in mastering the art of sportively duelling with swords for different purposes such as duelling for winning another Sim’s heart, earning the Dynasty headship or solving a Noble rivalry conflict.
It includes a collection of 12 swords that reflect Ondarion’s three cultures (Falcatas, Rapiers and Sabers) and some nods to pop culture (like Exsimabur!). These swords can be both showed off in duels, or displayed in your luxurious estate.
Swordsmanship Tournaments
We created a scalable system for any type of skill competitions, including the specific instance for Royalty & Legacy: Swordsmanship Tournaments.
Tournaments follow Swiss round-based rules, in which Sims have time between rounds to hone their skills before the duel takes place, being able to do different activities such as practicing with dummies, being correctly fed and reaching an adequate mental state. The more prepared, the more likely they will win a duel (and thus, the Tournament!)
Through Gazebos located around Ondarion, Sims can find three levels of Tournaments from beginner to professional level.
